The perfect introduction to a trail-running event, this loop begins and ends in Halls Gap with gradual climbs and descents throughout. Runners start at the event village and head out towards Venus Baths before veering towards the back of Halls Gap Oval. After waving to the kangaroos, follow the Chatauqua Peak Walk and tackle the switchbacks to the saddle below the peak. Descend the northern side of the hill and link up Bullaces Glen before rejoining the Chatauqua Peak Walk and returning to Halls Gap. Short, sharp and stunning – welcome to Gariwerd.
